| Throughout the school year,
we offer the following programs: |
Outdoor Education
The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning’s
Outdoor Education Programs integrates state and district standards
into our curriculum. After conducting an in-depth needs assessment
with our clients we design a curriculum based on the academic
needs of each school district we serve. Our unique program
provides an exceptional balance between experiential, outdoor
and environmental education philosophies. We focus on academic
and interpersonal skills in an outdoor classroom where students
learn from experiencing our natural world. We believe that
children should experience a safe, healthy outdoor educational
setting in which to develop a sense of community, independence
and appreciation for and understanding of the environment.
Our Outdoor Education Programs range from day experiences
to week long residential and day programs. |
Teacher In-Service
Program With the implications
of The No Child Left Behind Act, teachers and administrators
don’t have enough time to collaborate. Teacher In-Service
Sessions at the Nuhop Center provide a template for educators
to see each other in a new light and communicate on a human
level. Our expertise is facilitating Teacher In-Service Sessions
using experiential activities as the tools to meet the desired
outcomes of the clients we serve. These experiences provide
educators with an opportunity to identify the positive impacts
they have on their students and colleagues. The Teacher In-Service
Sessions can be facilitated at your school or at the Nuhop
Center. LPDC credits are an option based on your district
standards.

Leadership Training
for High Schools and Middle Schools
Teachers and administrators expect students
to become leaders, but few students have the knowledge and
tools to facilitate change within their schools. The
Leadership In Action Initiative™ involves student
learners in highly engaging activities that facilitate students
through identifying their personality traits, leadership styles,
and the importance of understanding the needs and desires
of others. The Leadership In Action
Initiative™ training session begins with ice-breakers
and team building activities to break down social barriers.
We ask students to share the positive aspects of their schools
and develop goals to improve their school climate. Through
experiential education, initiatives are used as tools to identify
and enhance leadership styles. One day to three-day workshops
can be held at your school or at the Nuhop Center. |
Leadership Training
for School Athletic Conferences
Athletic competition between schools can often degrade into
conflicts and animosity. The Athletic
Conference Leadership Initiative™ training session
develops understanding and acceptance among conference schools
while breaking down barriers created by competition. Students
share their school’s unique traditions and celebrate
why they are proud of their school. Students leave the The
Athletic Conference Leadership Initiative™ training
session as friends and develop ways to enhance conference
unity. These training sessions can be facilitated at participating
schools of at The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning. |
Corporate Workshop
The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning is
excited about its recent partnership with a Corporate Training
and Team Performance Company. This relationship was cultivated
to provide The Nuhop Center’s corporate clients with
training curriculum developed from current research in the
experiential education field and from organizational and management
principles being integrated into the cultures of many Fortune
500 companies. The services available through this partnership
enable The Nuhop Center’s corporate clients to engage
in hands-on training that produces measurable impacts at the
individual and team level within the organization being served. |
Respite Care
The main mission of the Nuhop Center for Experiential
Learning is our summer camp program for children with special
needs. In order to continue our mission throughout the school
year, we have developed three seasonal weekend respite programs
to serve the needs of our campers and parents. The respite
programs developed for our summer camp clients are scheduled
during the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Our respite programs
have been such a success over the past few years that we have
begun developing specialized programs designed for government
and non-profit agencies throughout the state of Ohio.

High Ropes Course
In July 2002, The Nuhop Center had a High Ropes
Course professionally designed and constructed on site. When
facilitating a High Ropes Experience at The Nuhop Center we
follow the philosophy of “Challenge by Choice”
which allows participants engaged in the experience to choose
their level of participation during the event. The High Ropes
Course is situated forty feet above the ground in cluster
of pine trees. Each element was carefully designed to encourage
participants to take risks towards personal and team growth.
The High Ropes Course can be added to the curriculum of the
existing programs outlined above or it may be used to achieve
the outcomes of team development, leadership, and trust during
a stand-alone event. |
