In 1999, The Nuhop Center for Experiential
Learning opened the Colorado Branch of Camp Nuhop. We were housed
at The Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center outside of Divide
Colorado. The beauty of this program
was not only the setting of the Rocky Mountains, but the intimate
numbers of campers that were served. Our enrollment over the
past few summers was around 35 wonderful children during this
one-week session held just below Pikes Peak.
Although our goal was to grow our colorado Branch,
our enrollment was down by about 50% last summer and we made
the difficult decision to cancel the program for the summer
of 2004, with the hope to open again the summer of 2005. After
careful reflection, study, conversation with the Executive
Team and Board of Directorsuhop Center for Experiential Learning,
we have come to the conclusion that we need to focus our energy
and resources on the main program in Ohio.
We did not come to this decision lightly, and
we regret that we will not be able to serve the wonderful
families and children that are alumnus of the Colorado Branch
of Camp Nuhop. Although we will not have a permanent site
in Colorado, we would like to invite all of our families to
send their children to the Ohio and Trip Programs.
We thank all of our Colorado Camp Alumnus and
their families and we hope that we can be of service to you
with our Ohio Programs.
Best Regards!
